Happy Nunavut Day

July 9, 2017

Nunavut Day celebrates the official division of Nunavut from the Northwest Territories and its creation as an independent territory as part of Canada’s confederation. While Nunavut officially became a territory on April 1, July 9 is celebrated annually as the day the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement was signed in 1993, outlining the boundaries of Canada’s newest Territory.

Today we celebrate Nunavut’s history and ongoing contributions to all of Canada. For more information about Nunavut Day, click here.
